The Georgian Skiers Intensively Prepare for the Olympics

Georgian skiers Iason Abramashvili, Aleksi Beniaidze and Nino Tsiklauri are intensively preparing for Sochi Olympics. Gera Abramashvili, famous sportsman, former coach of the Soviet Union team and coach of our Olympian skiers, provided the author of these lines with this information. Abramishvili is in Krasnaya Polyana (40 km from Adler).  

He said they live in the Olympic village in Krasnaya Polyana. “All three of our Olympians practice in Krasnaya Polyana every day. In the evening they practice in the gym. There are good living conditions. The organizers and the hosts of the Olympics, also other delegations are very nice to the Georgian athletes”, - stated Abramashvili.

Nino Tsiklauri who is participating in the Olympics for the second time (she took the 50th place in Canada in 2010) will be the first from the Georgians to compete at the tournament – in giant slalom in Krasnaya Polyana on February 18. Nino will compete in slalom after two days. Gera Abramashvilii mentioned that Tsiklauri will try to improve her result and to achieve progress.

Iason Abramashvili is participating in the Olympics for the third time. At the previous tournaments his highest result was the 29th place. Gera Abramashvili said the goal of Iason is to get in Top 30 (about 90 athletes are competing in the tournament). Iason told us if he gets in Top 30, it will be success but if he gets in Top 25, it will be a very good result.

Aleksi Beniaidze is a debutant. According to Gera Abramashvili, despite this, Aleksi will also try to get in Top 30.
